We got a load of AC units going to Seattle. The load paid good, and AC units are easy to secure, so we were happy. I called my job site contact to get the particulars. My goal with calling a job site contact is 1) get directions and truck entrance info, 2) find if there is overnight parking, and 3) verify if my appointment time is good.
I got all three of those nailed down, and he ended the call with, “Let me know if you want a hooker or some pot when you get here.” Click.
I had to sort of think about what he said a few times in case it rhymed with something, and I misunderstood. I could think of nothing, and he calls me back an hour later to confirm.
He says, “By the way, this is an old soft drink company’s building they are converting to a pot growing operation, so there are no signs on the building, and they don’t want to draw any attention to themselves.” Then again right before he hung up, “If you want a hooker, call me before you get here so I have time arrange it.” Click.
Ok, so I heard him right. I tell Freckles, and we laugh about the hooker, but we’re interested in seeing a legal pot factory the size of which would need the cooling units on my truck. I had no intention of calling him, as I wasn’t in the market for hookers and pot.
We got about thirty minutes away to park, and I hear a faint male voice saying, “Hello? Hello?”
It was from my phone which sits beside me so I pick it up and say, “Hello?” With the appropriate apprehensive expression we all have considering our first encounter with a poltergeist.
The man says, “I knew you’d call! You almost here?”
I apparently accidentally dialed this dude’s number, and he is drunk? High? All the above? I’m really in a bind now and ask Freckles if we can have a hooker and some pot because I don’t want to hurt this guys feelings. I never did get a straight answer mostly because she was too busy laughing at me for accidentally calling my new best friend. I explained that I called him on accident, and he laughs and says, “No worries, bud, you can change your mind – see you in the morning.”
We unloaded in the morning and got a tour of the place. It was just rooms under construction and stuff, but it looked like it would be impressive. Just like he said, you can drive right by it and have no clue.
